MR : Hi Duke, welcome home. I am from malaysiarugby.com.

Duke : Hi bro, good to meet you and please to be here.

MR : How is Japan Rugby?

Duke : Japan rugby is different than how Malaysians play it as there is a professional league, the Japanese play way harder and move the ball faster as compared to rugby in Malaysia

MR : What is the difference between rugby in Malaysia and Japan?

Duke : In Japan, players are more confident, out in more effort and hard work in training which shows during match day. As rugby in Malaysia is still considered amateur, we still have a long way to go.

MR : As far as you are concerned, is the current rugby scene in Malaysia doing enough to be a rugby powerhouse like Japan or Hong Kong?

Duke : Yes, I believe there is room to grow, and it will happen step by step.

MR : Fan engagement is critical for the success of rugby in Malaysia, and we are looking at a number of ways to ensure we generate interest from our most avid fans and sport lovers in general. We create fb pages Malaysia Rugby and the website www.malaysiarugby.com. Do you agree with the statement of fan engagement will make rugby a success? why?

Duke : The fans are always a great support to us and I wish this website will always ensure that the fans are always updated all the time with the current rugby news. Personally, my fans are fantastic.

MR : What is your expectation to our Malaysia team in the coming Asian 5 Nations tournament?

Duke : The team this year consists with a lot of new faces mixed with good experienced players. So, saying that, I expect them to give their best performance and promoted to the first Division.

MR : When did you start playing rugby?

Duke : Initially, I discovered rugby when I was 13 years old in school which I played for few months. I was only committed to rugby when I was 19 years old in Penang, that was 2008.

MR : What do you reckon is your best “try” so far?

Duke : My best try yet to come ..

MR : Which discipline of rugby do you prefer – 7s, 10s or 15s? Why?

Duke : I prefer to play with 15 men because that is the original RUgby Union which is unique and shows team work and have a lot of passion.

MR : Do you have any ritual or habit before entering the field/match?

Duke : I usually will drink Red Bull and apply muscle rub on the legs to feel active and get warmed up quickly .

MR : Any words to the Malaysia Rugby fans..

Duke : There is not much difference comparing to Malaysia rugby and Japan, if we put in the hard work and all the people in Malaysia have the sense of togetherness, what will take Malaysia Rugby to the next level.

MR : Thank you bro for your time, we wish you all the best with your club, Yamaha Jubilo and please, make Malaysia proud!

Duke : Most welcome and thank you Malaysia Rugby. Padu!
